Ground Decoration Guidelines
The purpose of these rules is to continually maintain a beautiful cemetery through a program that permits proper and timely maintenance procedures at a reasonable cost. This objective is in the interest of all lot owners and can be achieved by the cooperation of all concerned.
Mausoleum Decoration Guidelines
All floral tributes and their containers are solely the responsibility of, and at the risk of the owner. The Cemetery assumes no liability for decorations placed on graves, crypts, or niches.
The purpose of these rules is to continually maintain a beautiful cemetery through a program that permits proper and timely maintenance procedures at a reasonable cost. This objective is in the interest of all lot owners and can be achieved by the cooperation of all concerned.
- No planting shall be more than six (6) inches from an upright monument.
- Cut flowers must be placed in an approved container within six (6) inches of a monument or grave marker.
- All flowers and artificial arrangements shall be removed as soon as they become unsightly. Permanent-type containers will be emptied and placed in their appropriate storage place.
- Flowers from a funeral shall be placed in the trash barrels provided for this purpose when they begin to detract from the beauty of the cemetery.
- If flower baskets are to be saved, arrangements must be made with the management.
- Glass containers and tin cans are not permitted.
- Grave blankets and other winter decorations must be removed before March 15th.
- No trees or shrubs may be planted without the permission of the Association. Please ask about our living memorial program.
- Evergreen trees, shrubs and bushes which are not kept trimmed or become unsightly, may be removed.
- The Association shall have the right to remove any tree, shrub or bush they determine to be detrimental, unsightly, inconvenient or dangerous.
- New graves will be refilled by the cemetery.
- Arrangements must be made with management concerning any special work or decorations on graves that may be desired. Lot owners may not have work done in the cemetery by anyone other than employees of the Association, who work under the directory of the Cemetery Management.
- Decorative items such as: small toy houses, basket hooks, wire arches, wooden trellis, glass globes, tripods, shell, toys and like objects are not permitted on lots. Specific questions should be directed to the Cemetery Management.
- The placing of wooden, steel or wire chairs, seats, settees or benches on lots is not permitted. Please ask about our living memorial program.
Mausoleum Decoration Guidelines
- Artificial flowers only. They will remain in the holder as long as they present an attractive and pleasant appearance.
- We will allow two emblems plus a cameo per crypt front. Please inquire at the office if you are interested in this.
- Only small items which can be hung from the vase should adorn the crypt. ie. bracelets, a cross on a chain and other small items under 2" maximum.
- No drawings, cards, pictures or other items should be affixed to the crypt or niche fronts without prior approval.
- Lithopolis Cemetery reserves the right to remove, without notice, any items in violation of the above or that may be deemed objectionable to other crypt and niche owners.
